This is an idea that came about as I was discussing this photo graph with my friend Formel [link] . Having so much open space in a composition like this just seems to be the ideal place to install some well thought out and inspiring words. While Ive never suffered from a shortage of words, anything poetic is a little beyond my abilities. However my friend Devika Fernando, [link] whose poetry Ive admired for some time, was kind enough to give permission for this poem to be used here. If you have enjoyed this collaboration, please stop by Devikas, say hi, and let her know.
I posted it large so the words can be read clearly.
wow, love the way our collaboration has turned out! the flower does look like a little light of its own, and the way you've matched my poem with the right font and light background really works well. would make a good wallpaper or desktop pic. thanks for linking back to me, my friend! still feel honoured you liked my poem enough to use it.

oh, yes this is a great choice the yellow of the flower reminds me of the sun and light the poem is very well written, the repetition gives it power (I will stop by and say hi to Devika Fernando) I also like the font you picked and the blurry effect you used, that also reminds me of light, the effect also brought out the branches in the background more prominently 10/10 both for you and the poet

Alucard: I had one man tell me he was a writer. Integra: And what did you do? A: I killed him quickly. I: I'm sure the art community thanked you. A: I like to consider myself a scathing critic. None of my subjects survive my reviews.
Thanks. I'm not sure of how the text arranged, I was thinking of having the lines of the poem radiate from around the flower like sun rays. But then they may not fit. This is simple and clean, and not too gimicky. Please consider this piece equally as much yours as mine. With out a great poem the whole excercise would be pretty pointless.
A little further on the poem. I think one quality I appreciate about it, is that it helps captures well the essence of our existance. The spiritual aspect of what we are. And in such a way as to trancend any religious boundaries.

Thank you. Not too bad for a first go at it, hey? Photography itself is about capturing light in a creative way, to bring an image that says something. Even if it's something as simple as to say, "Enjoy the beauty arounds us." And coupled with this poem, it seems to work well togehter, both the poem and the image re-enforce each other. The more I read over this poem, the more I like it. I'm not a huge poetry fan, but Devika's is one of the very few galleries that I visit from time to time. She has some strong messages, and a good way of expressing them in her poetry.

This is great. You did a wonderful job of composition here. I have been to her gallery and was quite impressed. Obviously, I'm impressed with yours, too.

Thank you very much. I've been tossing around this idea in my head for a while, and the conversation with Formel kind of catalyzed me into finally doing something. This may be something I do a bit more of in the future, I really enjoyed the process, and it seems like a good thing to put as prints too.
