Artist's Comments

This was done when the sky was still pretty light. A 1/4 or 1/2 shutter would have lit the trees quite well, but the moon would have been over done. This squeeked in at 1/40, 1/160, 1/10 second shutter.

If you download this and look closely at the moon, shadowing from misaligned moon becomes apparent, but is liveable in my opinion.

Also, I was within about 50 meters/yds of these trees, and at 300mm focul length, I put the focus on the moon rather than the trees. So the silhouettes are not as crisp as I would really like.

I do like that shade of blue though.

:) Thank you.
This was second in a series of five, there are three from the next morning as the moon set over the ocean.

This a nice shade of blue.
I'm looking for trousers in this colour, maybe a bit darker but it's impossible to find any :giggle.
It would be great if you could shoot an orange or a red moon... it would be haunting.

Alucard: I had one man tell me he was a writer.
Integra: And what did you do?
A: I killed him quickly.
I: I'm sure the art community thanked you.
A: I like to consider myself a scathing critic. Non of my subjects survive my reviews.

Good luck on the pants. One thing you may be able to do, is get some clothing dyes and mix your own colors. Time consuming, but fun?

Yes, I'm going to be paying better attention to the moon as it cycles and the weather and all that. There's a balance of light between the moon and sky that will give certain looks to compositions, and these only occur during one or two days during the lunar cycle. With the sky at this brightness, the moon needs to be lower for some color in it.
