I know what it is but have never really watched it. I'm not really into Manga/Anime. I did watch Bleach for a while, though.

This poll is for my daughter. She had a discussion as to this question. They've watched a couple episodes a while back, so I had a chance to see it (live action movie version). I think the premise is pretty cool for the story, but maybe it could have been told or presented a littler better.

I guess my answer depends on which series of Death Note you're talking about... For example, in my opinion, the anime and manga capture more of the motivations and subtle shifts of both sanity and morality among the characters than the live action does. Not to mention, the movies completely skip over the plotline and theme I love most about the show - the reluctant teamwork of L's successors. How, working together, a little kid and a gangster wannabe could accomplish what the much-fangirled-and-loved detective could not.

But then again, I'm a bit of an anime nut, and one who loves to spend her time analyzing characters and stories. So hey. Still, it was a show that made me think, and that's not something that's often found nowadays, ya know? ^^

All that to say - my thumbs are up to the anime & manga, but I'm not overly enthusiastic about the live action movies.

It's an interesting story. I liked the live acting version opposed to the animated. And the flow of the story was very Japanese in architecture. I would like to see Quinten Tarentino do it.
